Glady Parrenas was in awe after realizing that the Lotto 6/49 ticket she bought for the May 11, 2024 draw landed her a $1,000,000 prize.
“I made sure I bought a ticket during Mother’s Day weekend,” recalled Parrenas.
After checking her ticket on the BCLC Lotto! App, she checked again just to make sure it was, in fact, a winner.
“I thought it couldn’t be real. I checked multiple tickets and checked [the winning ticket] throughout the day to confirm.”
The New Westminster resident shared the exciting news with her dad first. “He said, ‘Good for you!’”
Parrenas plans to use some of her winnings to pay off her mortgage and take her family on a cruise and trip to Japan.
On what this win means for Parrenas?
“Excitement that I can do what I have been wanting to do for family. It will allow me to retire [early] without hesitation.”
So far in 2024, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $48 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
Glady purchased the winning ticket at a lottery kiosk at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby.
